Mission:

Building a community that advances the profession of physical therapy to improve the health of society.

Vision of Our Association:

Transforming society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience

Areas of Focus:

RELEVANCE:  Increase Member Value and Engagement

 

1) Growth of professional and student PT and PTA members
Grow membership to 2,560 members by December 2021

2) Provide access to evidence-based education and resources
Host an annual conference and 4 online courses per year with 90% attendees reporting the content met evidence-based objectives of the course 

STEWARDSHIP: Foster Long-term Sustainability of Physical Therapy

 

1) Create an inclusive association that reflects the diversity of the society the profession serves
Create a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Special Interest Group in collaboration with Minnesota Occupational Therapy Association (MOTA)

Deliver at least one event related to DEI each year.

Promote member participation in the annual PT Day of Service (Oct 10, 2020) that supports equity and inclusion principles. Track the number and type of projects reported by chapter members. 

Institute APTA Engage Platform to connect members to volunteer opportunities aligned with their values.

2) Provide a framework to support early professionals and future leaders in the chapter
Create an Early Professionals Special Interest Group

Sponsor a participant for the APTA Centennial Scholarship program 

QUALITY:  Elevate the quality of care provided by PTs and PTAs

1) Promote and share research and evidence in practice
Survey membership and programs quarterly to compile and share current research of members and students.  

Present biannual member video conference to highlight research and evidence in practice.

2) Promote improved public accessibility to therapy services and expertise
Promote health and wellness at community and prevention levels through re-establishment of an active committee.

VALUE: Maximize stakeholder awareness of the value of physical therapy

 

1) Advocate for improved access and payment of physical therapy services
Prioritize chapter resources to support legislative efforts of the State and Federal Government Affairs committees and our lobbyist.  

 2)  Increase public knowledge of the physical therapy profession using social media

 

Create a Social Media Task force charged to develop a strategy for the office, SSIGs and all committees to maximize utilization of social media. Strategy to include MoveForward PT,  #Choose PT and other national messaging. 

3) Increase member and public knowledge in the value of telehealth 
In collaboration with the Payor Advocacy Workgroup, Payment and Government Affairs committees, provide continue education course on telehealth
