About the MN PT-PAC

MN PT-PAC was formed to empower Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants to be more involved in the determination of state laws and policies. MNPTA decided to create a mechanism that would allow the physical therapy profession to channel its financial and grassroots support to help candidates that understand the value of Physical Therapy. Your contribution is an invaluable resource as we work to accomplish our legislative goals.

MNPTA has identified three specific areas of advocacy that are important to our members and to the patients we serve– Access, Reimbursement, and Licensure. MNPTA needs your support to break down barriers to access, from regulatory barriers in which insurance companies require a physician's referral for PT services to financial barriers such as unreasonably high copays.

Rehab is an easy target and we are seeing increased pressure for payment reductions for PT services. With your help, MNPTA will continue to work with lawmakers and policy makers to prevent further reductions in reimbursement for PT services.

Thanks to the grassroots efforts through the MNPTA’s State Government Affairs Committee, we have successfully advocated to eliminate barriers to access, and have found opportunities to reduce administrative burden and improve reimbursement. MNPTA has successfully defended our scope of practice from other providers who wish to infringe or limit the scope of practice for Physical Therapists and Physical Therapist Assistants. We will need your financial and grassroots support to achieve our legislative goals each and every year so the practice of Physical Therapy will remain strong here in Minnesota.
