About This Course

Fundamental to our profession, manual therapy has been shown to be effective in the management of multiple spinal disorders. We believe that PTs who utilize manual treatments are more passionate about their practice and frequently attain excellent outcomes. In this 15.5-hour, lab-intensive course, mobilization and manipulation techniques from the upper cervical spine to the sacrum will be presented in a comfortable environment. Whether participants are unfamiliar with more advanced mobilization and manipulation techniques or simply seeking to sharpen their skills, this course will be useful in a high percentage of an outpatient PT’s caseload. Two experienced instructors will be present for frequent feedback in a relaxed lab setting. We recommend having experience with spinal manipulation to attend this course.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the importance of evidence-based practice and impact on the use of manual therapy.
  • Learn the mechanisms by which manual therapy affects spinal disorders.
  • Understand the risks and benefits of cervical manual therapy and demonstrate proficiency with cervical and thoracic mobilization/manipulation techniques that can be implemented immediately into clinical practice.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with rib mobilization and manipulation techniques.
  • Understand simple testing for the SI joint to assist with manual therapy decision-making.
  • Demonstrate proficiency with lumbar mobilization and manipulation as well as positional biases.
