About This Course

Urinary incontinence is a condition that has been normalized and ignored on many levels. However, the impact of urinary incontinence is huge. Billions of dollars are spent every year managing incontinence, and the impact on quality of life is stronger than diabetes, cancer and arthritis. Physical therapists are ideally placed to not just identify people with incontinence, but in a perfect place to help CURE it! Unlike many diagnoses, we have Level 1 evidence that physical therapy can cure urinary incontinence.

In this course participants will learn what incontinence is, how to differentiate between the different types of incontinence, and develop a plan of care for their patients starting Monday morning.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Describe normal physiology of micturition and continence.
  • Describe more than 3 types of urinary incontinence.
  • Develop a plan of care for urinary incontinence, including necessary referrals.
