About MNPTA

As a member-driven and volunteer-led organization, the Minnesota Physical Therapy Association (MNPTA) leads its membership in advocating for and securing the future of the profession of physical therapy.

Vision

Consumers will choose and directly access physical therapy for the prevention, evaluation, and treatment of movement dysfunction, complex conditions, and disabilities as performed only by physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.  The profession of physical therapy will be valued for its specialized body of knowledge, evidence-based practice, and compassionate, client-centered care.

Mission

As a volunteer- and member-led and mission-driven organization, the Minnesota Physical Therapy Association (MNPTA) leads its membership in advocating for and securing the future of of the profession of physical therapy, for the benefit of those whom it serves.

Goals

Foundation: MNPTA will have a sound and sustainable foundation, with efficient processes, adequate financial resources, and effective communication, to enhance the work of volunteers and staff in support of the mission, vision, and goals of the chapter.

Professional Standards for Practice: Physical therapists and physical therapist assistants will practice in accordance with APTA's core values of professionalism: Accountability, altruism, compassion/caring, excellence, integrity, professional duty, and social responsibility.

Scope of Practice & Access to Physical Therapy: MNPTA will lead the profession in advocacy efforts related to scope of practice.  Statutory, regulatory, and health care policy barriers to accessing physical therapy will be minimized and, wherever possible, eliminated.

Payment for Physical Therapy Services: MNPTA will advocate for payment policies in the public and private sector that reflect the value of physical therapy.

Professional Development & Quality of Care: MNPTA will provide opportunities for life-long learning, to enhance independent clinical decision-making and support evidence-based practice.
